IBM Security Guardium Ideas Portal

Shape the future of IBM!

We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:

Post your ideas

Start by posting ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted and upvote them if they matter to you,

  1. Post an idea

  2. Upvote ideas that matter most to you

  3. Get feedback from the IBM team to refine your idea

Help IBM prioritize your ideas and requests

The IBM team may need your help to refine the ideas so they may ask for more information or feedback. The offering manager team will then decide if they can begin working on your idea. If they can start during the next development cycle, they will put the idea on the priority list. Each team at IBM works on a different schedule, where some ideas can be implemented right away, others may be placed on a different schedule.

Receive notification on the decision

Some ideas can be implemented at IBM, while others may not fit within the development plans for the product. In either case, the team will let you know as soon as possible. In some cases, we may be able to find alternatives for ideas which cannot be implemented in a reasonable time.

Post an Idea

To post a new idea - click on the "Add a new idea" button and select the appropriate capability area this idea relates to. External STAP publishing the database on the Internet

Hello IBM Support!

I would like to open an RFE based on the ticket TS006540862:

We got a worning from the AWS Trusted Advisor about our databse has benig published on the Internet.

In the process provided by the IBM, using AWS EKS there is no way to set a specific IP range to which the loadbalacer is going to publish the database. The process is deploying an AWS loadbalancer that replace all security rules and make the database available to accept connections from all Internet.

Can you provide a fix to handle this issue?

After thoroughly reviewing your case, we believe we do not have any support enhancements that we can deliver.

While considering deployment of External S-TAP to monitor databases, we highly recommend the cloud infrastructure teams be consulted for secure configuration and operation. And the below questions around securing E S-TAP with LB will provide more information:

1 - How can we restrict access to the IP-based internal load balancer?

An internal load balancer can only route requests that come from clients with access to the VPC for the load balancer.
There is no security option for internal load balancer.

2 - If it is necessary to edit the access list, releasing new IPs, how to do it without having to recreate the entire internal load balancer and consequently causing a downtime in the service?

The IP address of internal load balancer is assigned during creation which cannot be released or reassigned.
However , you can create "Endpoint services", which can Associate or Disassociate with load balancer, you application should use endpoint of Endpoint services is such case.

    Thanks,
