IBM Security Guardium Ideas Portal

Shape the future of IBM!

We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:

Post your ideas

Start by posting ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted and upvote them if they matter to you,

  1. Post an idea

  2. Upvote ideas that matter most to you

  3. Get feedback from the IBM team to refine your idea

Help IBM prioritize your ideas and requests

The IBM team may need your help to refine the ideas so they may ask for more information or feedback. The offering manager team will then decide if they can begin working on your idea. If they can start during the next development cycle, they will put the idea on the priority list. Each team at IBM works on a different schedule, where some ideas can be implemented right away, others may be placed on a different schedule.

Receive notification on the decision

Some ideas can be implemented at IBM, while others may not fit within the development plans for the product. In either case, the team will let you know as soon as possible. In some cases, we may be able to find alternatives for ideas which cannot be implemented in a reasonable time.

Post an Idea

To post a new idea - click on the "Add a new idea" button and select the appropriate capability area this idea relates to. If 'Guardium Data Protection' capability is selected, you will be prompted to select the category/product the idea relates to. If you are not sure of the category/product your idea would fall under, then select 'IBM Guardium Other' in the drop down list and proceed from there.

For IBMers, click here to submit an idea on behalf of a customer, if the customer prefers to keep their use case and idea private.

Installation without using LOCAL administrator (Windows)

Installation of GKLM software requires a LOCAL administrator on the Windows platform. Security Policies in places do not allow for local administrator accounts to exist. Installation cannot be automated due to this.

Having this last version v4.1.1 regression handle would improve significantly the RBAC management especially in enterprise level organization where the is frequently humain onboarding/off boarding. As there is also numerous sklm servers, herit rights access from ad group will avoid fingers checks and many other user manipulation error

    Please review the following suggestions:

    1) Do enhanced parsing of local admin permission in launchpad.bat / install.bat. The current parsing for localgroup is not sufficient. Most customers have their own group names that do never match the query.

    2) when creating the Db2 install response file db2_11.5_install.rsp and add the following lines to allow Db2 to authenticate agains users in group DB2admns and against domain users... this is required if a dom user with local admin permissions installs GKLM. If this is not performed, the installation fails with error 4, db2cmd.exe failures..

I am happy to have a conversion about this if needed.
